Is there a feature in the Azden 7000 that will automatically
pick if the offset is 600 up OR 600 down, depending on which
part of the band you are in???? I have not located it in the
manual, but sure would like to see it or know about it.

Ah yes...the R1. The radio you love to hate. I've had one in daily use
for about a year now. Bought it used for $165 from some chap who thought
that the worn out numbers on the keypad would hamper my enjoyment, and
thus he set the price accordingly. The only thing (IMHO) it has going for
it is the size and the tuning knob. Otherwise it rather sucks as a
receiver. Of course, I do pick up foreign broadcasts in the SW band with
just the stock duckie when conditions are ok... a nice plus over the
typical scanner. My friend, also an R1 owner, just sold his out of
frustration in favor of a PRO-43. I am so tempted to do the same, but I
just can't imagine parting with mine. Guess I have a soft spot for the
underdog.
